Renewable Energy in Winchester District

Winchester aims to cut the District’s emissions of greenhouse gas by 30% by the end of 2015. Since the 2004 starting point we have saved about 10%; we need to cut our emissions by another 200,000 tonnes. A new Government-funded report on renewable energy in Winchester District has found that a comparatively small number of large renewable-energy projects would achieve this. The alternative is every single household in the District cutting its energy use by a third, or taking a quarter of our vehicles off the roads. The conference will present:

*Realistic ways forward, based on the report

*How developers set up commercial renewable energy schemes, by Darren Cummins, Development Manager, EDF Energy Renewables Ltd;

*How communities can benefit from developers’ schemes or their own schemes (with a short film).

The conference is Free and open to all but booking is essential; email events@winacc.org.uk or phone 01962 827083

Time 18:30 – 21:30
