At our recent networking evening Tanya Jayne Park gave a very informative presentation on “The Cloud; all you need to know”. Tanya Jayne’s presentation consisted of 5 main points: 1. Freedom 2. Value for Money 3. Security 4. Simplicity 5. Scalability

Starting with the basics and going into greater detail as attendees requested, she covered important and sensitive subjects like security, EU data protection and reliability, and there was a healthy discussion on user internet bandwidth requirements.

Once the basics were covered Tanya Jayne moved on to how the Cloud can be used for running applications instead of having to use locally installed Microsoft Office tools. A good example of this was Google Apps which is an area were Tanya Jayne has a considerable amount of expertise, especially in relation to advising SMEs and SMBs. Google Apps includes Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Email to mention but a few.

Issues of document sharing and compatibility were a concern expressed by a number of attendees and which Tanya Jayne explained with knowledgeable insight. Other Cloud applications recommended were Accounting & CRM systems.
